Jason Hoole-Jackson was born in May 1966 in Kingston, Surrey and moved to Cornwall with his parents in 1971.

Since leaving school Jason has worked in the mining industry and for the past 27 years in Local Government as a Highways Engineer. During his career he has gained an ONC and HNC in Civil Engineering and become a Fellow of the Institute of Highways Engineers.

Throughout his life Jason has taken a keen interest in photography and has seen great changes in the Medium from film to digital. Although embracing the changes and making use of all the technology available he still likes to use film for some projects especially the use of large format.

After attending several film based photography evening classes at Truro College, in 2008, Truro College offered the chance to study photography on a part-time FdA in photography and digital imaging which he joined with great enthusiasm. As it was part-time it was spread over four years instead of the usual two.

Throughout the four years Jason learnt a great number of new skills including a range of photographic techniques, theory and business studies needed to become a successfully professional photographer.

Jason successfully completed his FdA in 2012 graduating with Distinction and Principal’s Commendation. He also won the prize for most Improved Graduating Student that year.

Thanks to Truro College and his own determination in 2014 he completed studying BA Applied Media (Photography) as the sole student part-time leaving Truro with a BA (Hons)

Having developed a number of new techniques and skills throughout his time at Truro College, Jason would like to specialize mainly in portrait photography.
